It is imperative, that girls - in due time - realize, that their expectations might be quite remote from reality of the work in this field.
The women most heavily exploited by traffickers, criminals or brothel owners have not all been kidnapped and raped. Often a woman or a girl comes into contact with various intermediaries, who, through assorted forms of trickery, e.g. fancy ads in the news papers or a saying from "a good friend" and other tempting things, fuel her hopes for a better life. This encourages her to enter into their group or business, and then later they make it absolutely impossible for her to find a way out.
Recruiters e.g. with a good insight in the woman's particular culture knows exactly how to temp the girl's family to sell or to support them sending the girl away for "a better future". The girls have a strong wish to change their life by leaving for a distant country. The girls may at home be in a situation of grave economic hardship, perhaps involving their need of supporting young children, ailing parents or a brother or a sister. Often the girl has a background of great loneliness stemming from abuse, life in orphanages, parental alcoholism, incest or serious psychological problems.
To leave and to work in a foreign country in a "good and well paid job" e.g. by doing house keeping, by being a dancer in the entertainment business, or even fulfilling her dream of becoming an actress etc., it may be a voluntary decision, taken alone or even with the support of the family.
Many women think they are aware of the dangers and the unknowns. But the objective need to escape a condition of greate social-economic or psychological hardship, together with the "attractiveness" of highly paid entertainment work (that seems to offer new prospects in life) are powerful forces driving them to leave their home country.
It is imperative, that girls realize - in due time - that their expectations very often might be quite remote from reality of the work in this field. Once they are located in a foreign country, alone and far away from friends and family, the girls are trapped! Spread these words to the girls!
